Compare the car with the pickup photos. New damage needs its own photographs and a report through the booking. Categories the product already understands include scratches, dents, cracks, broken trim, wheel damage, interior stains, broken glass, and missing accessories.
- Make sure everyone is safe. Use emergency services if someone is hurt.
- Photograph the damage in daylight, wide and close.
- Do not ask the guest for cash to 'sort it here'.
- File it on the booking so it can be assessed against the deposit or as a claim.
- Keep the messages and the pickup record. They are part of the evidence.
Routine damage charges, when they apply, are based on evidence and are taken from the security deposit up to the full deposit. Anything larger goes through the claims path. Neither step is an on-the-spot approval.
